| Surgery outside WC claim What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Colorado
I have been on Workman's Comp for a job related injury, recently I found out I needed to have surgery. When my doctor confirmed the date I told my manger and HR. Corporate HR told WC insurance carrier who called and left me a message that she had heard I was having surgery and that she had called the WC doctor and rescheduled my appt. to go in a week before the surgery and that I was to make sure I made the appt. and she would be sending me a letter about that. I believe that WC ins. rep is putting pressure on the WC doctor to release me so that when I take off for this surgery which is not related to my WC's claim they will not have to pay me. My question is: because this surgery is not related to my WC's claim, is telling WC about it by HR a violation of Hipaa? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Colorado |
