I have heard several different opinions. What I need to know is fact. My husband has not worked since last October due to an injury. He has been receiving workmans comp checks every two weeks. When it comes time to file our taxes, is wc considered to be income? How would we file it? We never received a W2. I've heard it is not taxable and I heard it was. We live in North Carolina. I'd like to know now before we have to come up with money we don't have.

According to NC statutes 97-21 "claims are exempt from taxes and debts". If you want to know more, go to WorkersCompensation.com.
