So a friend of mine, has been accused of "Conspiracy to Commit Extortion" or something along those lines. She has proof she didn't do it. Call logs, text messages and such.
Anyway, the only reason we can think of that she's being accused is that she's a teenager who lives next door to the people being "extorted". And she "swears alot" (I kid you not, they actually wrote that down. In-fact the search warrant was based on her swearing and her Facebook."Where the SHTF exactly, is that they raided her house and seized a bunch of her stuff.
Here's the list. Anything in bold is hers. Everything else is her parents.
Desktop CPU
Staples CD-R x2
Memorex CD-R
2 Epsom Printers
Dell CPU
Sony Erickson Cell Phone
LG Cell Phone
2 Mead Notebooks
Another CD-R
Photos of her 16th Birthday
Dell Laptop and power cord
Kodak Easy Share (Camera and Printer)
2 SD Cards- Lexar and Scan Disk
AT&T Pantek Cellphone
More CD-Rs
Another notebook
2 Scan Disk storage disks
Thumb drive
Misc. Letters
Samsung Cellphone w/ power-cord
Unsecured 22L Rifle
Black Cell Phone Charger
22 Magnum
Now, I've advised her to talk to a lawyer about a lawsuit, but she's 17 and doesn't think she can be helped. What are her legal options exactly, because I'm pretty sure she has a good case against here. What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
