Though inconvenience isn't compensable, actual loss is. Lost time is lost productivity and if you can prove a monetary loss caused by the negligence of another driver then indeed you have a potentially compensable claim, as would the multitudes of other drivers trapped in the same traffic accident-caused tie-up.

Except that damages that are considered too remote are not awarded. The chain of causation is not endless and the negligent defendant is not liable for every possible thing that might happen out of an accident. I don’t see this claim as being successful.
