If a company granted stock options up until 2004, then cancelled the stock option plan, are the previously granted options still exerciseable by the grantee? According to the paperwork, the options in question are exerciseable in 2007 and beyond. (5 year waiting period.)

I am being told that since the stock option plan was terminated, the previously granted options are worthless. They were Non Qualified options.

The company is French owned, but also does business in the US. (Sodexho)

Thank you for any help you can provide.
