Received A Package That Wasn't For Me

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? CA

We signed for a package from FedEx that arrived at the door. Later we read the name and address and saw it was for someone who doesn't even live at the house, but the address was right. What are our obligations in this case with regards to the package (it's huge)? Any idea if there is a statuate to when property like that is considered "abandoned"?

Well ,where is it from ?

Contact FedEx - they should have tracking info.

Why would you sign for a package you weren't expecting ?

Oh , you signed for it ,now you are responsible to see that the person named on the package receives it , unless FedEx will look into it and see if there was a mistake and take responsibility of the package back .

I would Imagine if this isn't some kind of scam , that the person listed that is missing such a HUGH package ,would not have contacted FedEx themselves to track it down .

Can't you just be honest and call Fed Exp and tell them that you received a package that didn't belong to you.
