What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? I co-signed for a verizon cell phone plan over 20 years ago. over the years the person I signed for closed and opened a plan with a new company on their own. Five years ago they opened a new plan with verizon and quit paying after running up $2300. verizon is coming after me because I cosigned for the first plan. Are they blowing smoke?

They better the heck be blowing smoke. Because you are absolutely NOT responsible for that debt. I would call the local news action line to bring this out in public.
