What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Texas

I ust recently got a paper taped on my door saying that i need to appear in court for my debt.

Anything i need to do to avoid the court but i can't pay everything now. Maybe a payment plan?

Will i go to jail for this?

blue_angel_29, you might want to keep all of your debt-related concerns to one thread so that the forum volunteers get a fuller picture of your financial situation.

If you have been served with a summons and complaint, you will need to answer the complaint, but you want to make sure you meet the deadlines for submitting your answer. If you need assistance, look for low-cost legal aid clinics in your area.

You might also benefit from credit counseling but you must be careful in selecting a credit counselor. They are NOT created equal.

It is possible to negotiate a settlement with a debt collector, and some debt collection agencies will work with you on a payment arrangement, but, if you are being sued for the debt, the debt collector has probably already tried to work with you in the past. If they obtain a judgment against you in court, the time for negotiation will be past.

The good news is what FlyingRon noted - you will not go to jail over your debt.
