my name is vette. In 1999 my exhusband gave and signed
his consent for my new husband to adopt my daughter. Child
support payments stopped once the paperwork was filed with
the courts. The adoption is now final and signed by a judge
in San Diego, CA.
My exhusband has been calling, coming to my home, sending
threats, and every other month a child suport check comes.
Now he is making a threat to go back to court and get custody or visitation. What are my rights? What are my
new husbands rights now that the adoption is final?
What am I to do with these child support checks that my
exhusband keeps sending? What are my daughters rights?

My response:

1. You file for, and obtain, a Restraining Order against him.

2. You report what he's doing to the police and have him arrested for "stalking" and "terrorist threats".

He has no more rights to the child. The child is no longer legally his. It's over for him. Perhaps he'll need a jail sentence to make him understand.

Take your power back. Take action.

You could also up and move.. drastic action but may be best in the long run. Now the adoption is complete, you do not have to tell him where you are going..
