Had a one night stand with a girl in KY. I'm from TX. She ended up pregnant. I've agreed to pay the child support. Is it legal to pay in lump sums ?? Like 50k each 6 years ? Is there tax on that ?

Do I need to be present at the birth to sign the birth certificate or is that something that can be done through the mail with a Notary ? I really don't want anything to do with either of them, but we're going to try and find an attorney together to work out a "contract" so that she doesn't end up going through CS court. I'll be signing over all custody rights.

Unless you're super wealthy, $50k over 6 years is kind of a lot of money. Monthly or annually would be better. Don't sign a damn thing until a paternity test is done. Nothing like paying 18 years for a child who is not yours.

Also, IF the child is yours, I'm sure that the child would like a relationship with its father.

It's very unlikely that such a thing would be approved. The courts like to see a child provided for in regular and frequent installments. It is untaxed as an expense/income.

You don't need to sign the BC at all.

But I wouldn't be putting my signature on ANYTHING until a DNA test had confirmed that I was the father of the child.

Once paternity is established, you can petition for a child support order which will protect YOU as well as the child.

Whether you also file for visitation is up to you, but you will not be allowed to voluntarily terminate your rights.

So would I need a lawyer present ?? She's already threatening me with taking everything to CS court and basically raping me because she's got a friend who's an attorney. And I think her best friend's aunt might be the judge - can i file for a change of courts to one that has no relationship with her ?? I'm already thinking I'm going to have to have everything removed from my name and put in my parents name so that there is nothing she can put a lien on. I've got no problem paying, but I don't want to be raped just because she is a b**ch and she can

When the child is born request a Paternity test. If the child is yours you will have to pay support according to the guidelines of your state. You can google a child support calculator and figure it out.

You do not have to have anything to do with the child, but you do have to support him/her is you are proven to be the father.

If you want to continue to get advice here I suggest you loose that attitude ....

That is a truly dumb idea and will just complicate your life enormously.

Yes, health insurance and daycare will be part of the child support calculation. It will be calculated based on state guidelines. As long as you pay your monthly CS without fail, there would never be any reason for any lien to be placed against any of your assets. That only happens if someone is foolish enough not to pay their court ordered support.

Do a google search for an online child support calculator for the state with jurisdiction (I suppose that will be KY). Run the numbers to get an idea of what you will have to pay.

i'll ask for a paternity test before i hand over any cash.

i'm trying to make a pre-arranged "deal" so that i can make payments to her without having it ordered by the state, but with enough evidence to prove that it's CS payment so she can't file for arrears. i really don't want to have to take this entire thing through court.

honestly, like i said earlier, don't want anything to do with either of them. we were both drunk when it happened. i'm taking responsibility by giving the child financial needs, but that's it. that's all i'm prepared to do.
