Making a few assumptions there aren't we? At my old high school we had lecture rooms with a large table at the front and a podium next to it. No teachers desks. (might be a different teacher in the next period)

Another assumption! We don't have access to the written policy! You know what happens when you ASS-U-ME!

This explains your resistance to place any blame on the OP's kid! You don't discipline your own!

Still ASS-U-MING
Not assuming anything. the teacher is responsible for not securing the item. The OP stated what the policy was in her first post.

Wow, three pages and still no one's seized on the reason why Shay is right. (And she is, just for the wrong reason ;)).

Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

By the way, don't insult my parenting skills unless you know me.

The word is *assuming* without your little fun with it.

Let's leave this post up to a lawyer, shall we?

You have no freaking clue about my family, and if you did, ****************************...well let's just say you you would be envious.

There is nothing in the OP's original post that says what measures are taken to secure the device!

"Electronic devices may be confiscated by staff members and turned in to the attendance office until a parent or guardian retrieves them for the student."

"The staff and administration are not responsible for lost or stolen items."

I didn't insult your parenting skills, I just commented on your lack if discipline with your own children being the reason you felt sorry for the kid. You proved that by telling us your daughter has been in trouble at school for the same thing 3 times! It won't take three times in my house.

Yep, and the teacher did not secure it. Any other comment?

She may very well be right, even a blind squirell finds a nut every once in a while! I've also known attorneys to be wrong!

Here is where you are wrong. She was not in trouble. Her phone (2 years ago) was confiscated in 7th grade). I picked it up the next day and she was grounded from it .

Yes, you are insulting my parenting skills, and you know what buddy? You have no clue.

PS. I don't care what happens in your house, and you should not care what happens in mine.

Here is my life buddy!
