And anyway, if you can yawn to party rock anthem, man, you need a health check.
I doubt it was blaring loudly ... at an assembly? Did anyone other than the people next to the phone hear it?

In any event, no matter what you think about the brilliance of your stealth operation, if you get caught you can and likely will face administrative penalties as a result - up to and including suspension.

They're bending the rules now.

I'm pretty sure this isn't the forum for discussions like that.

They can figure it out themselves.
If you were my child? I'd be marching your little smart-alec self down to the principal's office and you'd sit there until you confessed AND turned over your cell phone.

but being disrespectful to an authority figure? not cool.
come on, not really our intention...sort of.

It was pretty strategically placed...one of my friends knows a little something about acoustics...

They can get plenty loud enough...

Yeah, well, if the phone's ok...

eh well. lucky for me my parents aren't Mr and Mrs Geek...

And also, you wouldn't be aware of any of this yet to enable yourself to march me down to the principals office...

Not until their name comes up as the contract holders...lol (awkward)

....now I find myself yawning...I think you actually might be a member of the Fun Police.

Over here, I'm still wondering how the school could get around privacy issues to legally obtain account holder information...over a prank...it's not like we did anything illegal...
we have our ways.

what makes you think there is a privacy issue anyway? The information is not privileged information.

It can't be public information??

If you sign a contract with a cell phone company, isn't it just between those two parties? Why would anyone else get access to that information if it didn't involve police?

It's not like the school can just ring them and say "hey, who's numbers this?" - so, how would they get it?

Of course it's public information. Haven't you ever heard of a phone book?

really? why do you believe the provider would not be allowed to disclose it to a third party? You advertise who your provider is to your friends, right? Is that not the same as the phone service provider telling others that you are their customer?

The point, dear child, is that phone numbers, whether they be cell phone numbers or land line numbers, are NOT private information.

There's a difference between finding out who the provider is and finding out who signed the contract for that number. I agree it's easy to figure out who the provider is.

None of you have actually backed up your claims that the information about account holders can be obtained.

I'm still sure that a school can not call a cell phone provider and say to them "who's number is this?"

So how else are they gonna do it?
