What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Custodial in Colorado, Non-Custodial in Alaska
I am experiencing the most ridiculous situation ever and I have no idea what to do. The non-custodial parent had $4728 taken from his "joint" tax return and it was sent to me. This guy is over $21,000 in arears. His new spouse filed for "Injured Spouse" and now the child support agency in Alaska is telling me I must pay that back. When I asked them to take it out of his child support payments, I was told "We can't do that because he doesn't pay it." So now I have a letter asking me to set up payments. So now I'M the only one out of this situation that is going to be making monthly payments. Is it just me or is this really as absurd as it appears. What can I do? I feel bullied by the very agency that was supposed to be looking out for my child's best interest. Why wont they go after him? Thanks for your help!
