can creditors go after home I use to own

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?California
I helped a friend buy a home both are name are on it .
I've since removed my name and I have lost my job
and unable to pay any of m credit cards. Can they put a Lien on the home
I still live in .I removed my name from house about 8 years ago.

I've been doing random Google searches about creditors going back years to see
if you owned something and going after said property

Creditors cannot attach property you do not own.

How long ago did you sell your house (and to whom)?

I took out a home loan with a relative then had my name removed and placed my sister's name on it about eight years ago.

Ok, I think that we are mixing issues here. There are two things:

1) The mortgage
2) The deed

You cannot just take your name off the mortgage so I am assuming that you are still liable for that. You can remove your name from the deed but sometimes that has a negative effect on the mortgage.

The bottom line however, is that if you do not OWN the home, the only creditor that can go after it, is the mortgage holder.
