Santa Monica has made it illegal for landlords to rent, rent-controlled apartments to corporations, because this takes away apartments from real people.

you can only rent to individuals based on rent control law.
isn't there some corporation or commerce clause that should supersede this prohibition?

What if I want to rent an apartment for myself with the use of an LLC that I am the sole member?

side point: can this law be used to force the local non profit behemoth corporation to reveal who they're renting to?

Apparently you will have to rent a market rate unit.

I have not read this law/ordinance, and if this situation is affecting you I suggest you consult a local attorney before commencing a lease and better still before setting up a LLC for the sake of concealing your identity, etc. so that you accomplish your indented goal without downsides or unintended costs.
