Paying a settlement

I reached out to the collection's lawyer after a judgement has been placed against me and offered $3,000 f or a settlement. The lawyer states the client has accepted the offer and will show the account as paid in full and closed. The lawyer is requesting I pay through his website. I am concerned the email chain is not enough supporting evidence just in case they do not hold up their end of the agreement.

Ask if you can drop off a cashier's check in exchange for a signed release.

Then you've got to make a decision...

You'll also want a Satisfaction of Judgment filed with the court.

The court where the judgment is may have a form for that online. If not, you can probably google yourself a sample.
