Okay, to clarify, I have not been served. It seems like a lawyer would have at least called my phone and left a voicemail if they were serving me. That's what leads me to think it's a collection agency from a bad credit card. They sent me a letter when I wrote them a letter stating my early leave of the last month (10 days, I left on the 1st of the month, the lease expired on the 10th, so I let them keep my security deposit). So let's say those 10 days equated to 400 dollars, I let them keep the 750.00 dollars because I was already paying rent on my new place and they wouldn't just let me leave. They have been terrible landlords over the past two years, harassing, verbal abuse, etc. They claim a few things like small holes in walls from pictures, re-painting (this is standard after 2 years of living somewhere). They would harass me about paying on the 1st of the month without the states 5 day grace period, so if I paid on the 3rd they would harass me. I know they do their own repairs, so they wouldn't have receipts of the costs. They literally just want my money if this is them trying to sue me. They are trying to turn a profit.
