Hello! So basically, i was involved in a hit and run. There was a parked van, and our side mirrors hit, and i kept going due to reasons of panic, and traffic behind me. Someone reported it, and my license plate and i was contacted by the police and we met up. He said the person isn’t going to press charges of any kind, and gave me a piece of paper with a number on it saying to just call my insurance and tell them i hit someone and give them the number. I guess i’m wondering what goes down from here. Is my license going to be suspended? Do i need to file a dmv accident report?

No i have not yet, but plan on doing so now, as it happened just this morning. Any advice on if i’ll be in any legal trouble since the charges were dropped? Will i still be charged with that hit and run? I wasnt given a ticket or anything. Just gave me a number to hand off to my insurance company

Citizens don't "press charges". Only a prosecutor can do that. So despite what the other vehicle owner said it is still possible you can be charged with this. If you get contacted by the police again get yourself an attorney.

Charges were not dropped. You were never charged to begin with.

Unless you do something stupid like not getting the car you hit fixed you are probably in the clear.

DO NOT RUN again.

Turn it into your insurance company NOW and accept all blame and its unlikely you will be charged with anything. Be stupid and do anything to avoid your insurance fully covering the claim and you may have serious problems.
