What is the name of your state? Illinois.

I was recently laid off along with 2 other members of my team, the reason they gave was that our positions had been eliminated however they hired people in another office doing the same job. Can they eliminate my position and not offer me the same position in another location?
Thanks

Justalayman is correct - this happens fairly often. They can eliminate your position at your location & lay you off any time they want unless there is a written contract to the contrary.

And, employers often use the phrase "layoff" to be politically correct and not "hurt the employee's feelings". Theoretically, a "layoff" means that you are subject to recall.
