Sent certified letter not first class "notice oto claim abandoned property"

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? CA

we sent "notice to claim abandoned property" for a tenant ...sent it registerd mail and do not have the receipt back ..we're not sure she picked up her mail///is that a vaild way to send "notice of abandoned property" letter if we also published sale in the paper in the county she resides? or did it definately have to be first class mail? we aslo hand deliverd the letter to be put in her PO box...

Certified mail *IS* first class. It's just special handling on first class (or possibly priority). RRR is an additional feature. Depending on the law you are trying to meet, if it only specifies first class, your certified receipt with the postmark on it is all that is needed.

thank you Ron....if we also put it in the PO box that would be considered hand delivering it which is also an option under the civil code, correct? that would be an additional assurance she got it in case we never get the stub back on the registered mail?
