What is the name of your state? WI

Our tenant signed the 2004 lease with 2001 date. Didn't pay much attention to it until today when we received a late rent payment via check dated 2002 vs 2004. They always pay by cash and this is the first check we've ever received.

I heard that checks over 6 months can't be cashed? Is this true?
Why would someone misdate the lease? Does this make the lease invalid?

We'll be asking him to come down tonight to redate both items and include initials. Will the lease then be valid??

**A: yes in general, but it is the bank that makes the policy. So check with them.

Why would someone misdate the lease?

**A: for any number of reasons. Maybe they are living in the past.

**A: yes, and the current lease is still valid.
