What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Arizona

My husband has served 18+ years in the Air Force, honorably, and just got results from MEB. He has degenerative disc disease in his spine and was told last year, by a spine specialist, that he should never run again. This showed up as a limitation and prompted a MEB. They just came back today giving him severence and 10% without retirement! I want to know how they can just drop him after 18 years???? Why can't he just finish his 20? He is an aircraft electrician but no longer works on the flight line and hasn't for the last 6 years. He works at a desk! He has less than 2 years to go! They said he can appeal...So how does that process work and how long does that take?

It looks like he should have just sucked it up and not complained about his back. We were thinking of the long term. The Air Force only needed him for a few more years but my girls and I need him for the rest of our lives. I thought we did the right thing but now it looks like we've made a big mistake!

Any information would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks
