Question

So here is the problem....my dumb self replied to a CL posting 2.5 weeks ago. It was responded back 2 days later, we talked a little she sent a 2 pictures, they both look different, one nudity pic. Then I was told she was underage, 17. After talking a bit more my dumb self sent a pic, no face, don't know why I did, and regreted it. Then she wanted to meet. But thankful it never happened. Now, 2 weeks later, with all communication severeded on my end by choice, because that's not me, I've been contacted by the "father", saying I need to pay him $250 then $350 to can cancel her phoneSo I can't communicate with her, but go to wal greens to do it, or he'll go to the police. I havent communicated with that number or know what it is in going on 3 weeks now. I know what I did was horrible and I hate even looking at myself for doing something like this. But most of this sounds like a scam/extortion. Am i correct?

You can ignore all communications said to be from the father.

If/when the police come knocking at your door, answer no questions and get an attorney.

What you did could get you charged with a crime with results that include registration on a sex offenders list.

Well, it’s almost assuredly a scam but your dumb self really screwed up when you continued the contact after being told the girl is a minor. It’s up to you at this point to figure out what you want to do. It’s quite possible you have actually committed a crime and have no defense. Of course, the person on the other end has also committed a crime of distributing child porn if the girl in the picture is a minor.

I think they call this a Mexican standoff.

It will matter if the police ever show up but since that this is a scam is a virtual certainty it doesn't matter.
Possibly a scam. Possibly a sting.

If Dummove hadn't made a dumb move by sending a nude photo of himself to someone he believed to be underage, he could have reported his receipt of the nude photo of the girl to the police. Now he is stuck worrying.
