Stateless Accused of a Crime

I have a friend here in Wisconsin who is Stateless and has been accused of a Felony. Can he be tried and convicted or will he just be exported?

He'll be tried, convicted, serve his sentence, then deported.
He needs to be talking to an attorney in the state he is charged.

Being an alien of any kind (stateless or not, authorized to be present in the U.S. or not) does not protect the alien from prosecution for a crime in the U.S. unless that alien has diplomatic immunity. So the alien certainly may be tried for the offense and if found guilty would serve any prison/jail sentence imposed. The alien may then face deportation and a possible re-entry ban as well.
