      When I said "parents" I was referring to the attitudes of mom and dad primarily. The girlfriend was taking her cues from the good/sensible coparenting relationship between the two actual parents. The fact that she was also being sensible herself was a bonus on top of that.

      I don't disagree, but it also seems to me like putting an eviction on someone's record when it appears that the person voluntarily moved out (and may have even left things in good condition, the OP hasn't said one way or the other) might be kind of an unfair thing to do.

It is a big step to spend the money to retain an attorney and that should not be done until it is certain that a CA attorney is the one that needs to be retained.
