So my wife had court today and the judge did not dismiss it and set a hearing for November 5. We are still both perplexed as to how only one person can be evicted. How would that work being that we have a one year old and another daughter due in april?

There was no notice given prior most likely due to him being under criminal investigation by the police department for three counts of violating a restraining order she has on him as well as stalking.

Unpermitted plumbing, shower does not work. Non vented gas dryer, unpermitted rewiring of the entire building. No updated fire prevention system. Unpermitted gas line installation. Unpermitted altercation of the structure.

We won our case and, paid our attorney a retainer and won our case and attorneys fees. However, we now need to collect our judgment and attorneys fees so we are still out of pocket until we are able to collect.

How does one ask a judge for punitive damages at a proof hearing. This will be my third hearing for the same same infraction. I have been awarded judgments of $3200 on the other two occasions and would like to ask for punitive damages this time around also.
Agreed. We have already been in contact with our local tv stations "action line" as well as our council member for this district and have found that the wheels of justice turn extremely slow. We have also filed a grievance with HUD.
Our understanding at this point is that it is currently being sent to the county's legal department for review. The court orders are under our names. The impending code violations will be under the county as he has had this happen in the past. We actually have a letter from the Housing authority...
Evidently having court orders requiring a landlord to provide essential services disqualifies you in the eyes of future landlords. We have HUD looking into this for us currently.
