As Zigner says, what state - US Law only!
How has the flea infestation been resolved? When? How? And by whom?
Wouldn't it have been cheaper to have hired an exterminator, yourself, so you could live there 6 weeks ago? (I just hired an exterminator for a rental house and it was less than $200...
We have had carpet, padding and plywood subflooring ruined by dog pee. The stench was unbearable! It made me gag to walk in. I have no idea how some people can live like pigs!
Get rid of your dog or keep him outside.
Pay the landlord!
He does not have an ASSISTANCE ANIMAL. He has 2 support animals. Emotional support animals, comfort animals, and therapy dogs are not service animals under Title II and Title III of the ADA.
I'm still confused as to why you did not disclose you had cats (plural) to your landlord when you applied!?
Where were the cats after you moved in? You intended to leave them there and not bring them with you? I find that hard to believe.
Just FYI, owners of ESA (support animals) do NOT have...
Seems to me it would be better to pay the landlord what you owe him, stay, and not have an eviction on your record. In my area, rentals are in such a demand, landlords rarely rent to people with prior evictions.
Chris.M, do you carry insurance that might cover it (or could get involved in seeing if you are responsible)?
That being said, $300-$450 probably wouldn't be worth a claim.
I don't think any of us understands when you say "lease was garnished". That's not a real thing. Explanation, please!
ALWAYS get it in writing if your landlord is allowing you to break your lease before you move!
I agree with the comments, above.
Pushing the issues of who pays for vent cleaning might irritate the landlord. Irritated landlords are more likely not to renew the lease at the end of the term. Cleaning air ducts is cheaper than moving.
(BTW - if the floor registers were filled with "carpet...
I thought it was the street/house address that was incorrect? The OP states "In the meantime I have to get all of the addresses I've already changed, changed again! "
If it were simply "legal description" or "parcel number" that needed changing, the OP wouldn't be inconvenience. It would just...
What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? OHIO
Posting for an acquaintance. I had no idea what to tell her and was hoping someone here knows the answer.
"We had a house fire (small) and the landlord can not afford to fix the damages with what his insurance is quoting his repairs. Our...

Our HOA has a 3 year, automatic renewal clause for garbage (dumpster) service for the community, with price increases built in, signed by a property manager in November 2011, (who was was fired in 2012 for theft, when we became self-managed). She left no records for us (so it would be less...

I've been a LL for 13 years, but this is a first for me.
I had a lease with a couple (not married) who have broken up. He tells me she moved out of state last year, but I have heard nothing at all from her. I have no forwarding address for her and her phone number was disconnected...
What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Kentucky
Hi all! Been a while since I was around (over a year?) so glad to be back. I am a landlord in Ohio and know all about OHIO LL?tenant laws, however, just yesterday I was talking to a LL in Kentucky, who was complaining about having to...
What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Florida
My nephew rents a house in Orlando (Polk County) Florida. He just recieved paperwork saying the house he is renting is being foreclosed on, but it looks like the house is not going to sheriff's sale.
Questions;
Is Florida a non-judicial...
Just curious, what states are non-recourse when it comes to foreclosure? The only one I can think of is Florida. If yours is a non-recourse state, let me know. (We were just talking about this and I am curious.)
What is the name of your state? ? OHIO, but question also pertains to property in Illinois
I had a tenant who lived in Chicago (owns a house) and was here in Cincinnati for temporary work. It was going along great, until his wife in Chicago, found out about his girlfriend, here in Ohio. Wife...
