I loaned a friend three thousand dollars and they refuse to pay it back. i was told the limit for filing a small claims suit in my state is 1500 dollars. How do i go about getting my 3,000 back. The laon was givin by way of check and we did draw up a promisory note.

You are correct. RI limit for Small Claims is ONLY $1500.

If you are going to take legal action against the debtor, you will have to file in a higher court.... and will very likely need the services of an attorney.
