What is the name of your state? Miss

My friend is moving here from a state where sex offenders are require to register for 10 years. I beleive that sex offenders are require to register for life here. I know it probly depends on the offense but does anyone know if (her 25 yr. old son) has to register for life ? Does it go by the state you were when you were convicted or where you move?

It generally goes by the law int he state where you are living. If that state requires registration for the particular offense, then the person will have to register as a sex offender for as long as MS law requires.

Here is a good link:

http://www.klaaskids.org/st-miss.htm

And to answer the questions you have:

Persons convicted in other states or jurisdictions for any of the covered offenses or an offense that would be considered a covered offense in Mississippi must register with MDPS upon relocating into the state. Additionally, any offenders that are required to register in their residence state are required to register with MDPS upon relocating into Mississippi, even if the offense is not one of the covered offenses in Mississippi.

The site also articulates that the time frame is for life, with some exceptions - which are listed.
