Las Vegas, Nevada, basic question.

If I bought and paid for a house, then get married, and then divorced, what is the status of that house?

Generally speaking, can what you own (and have in the bank) before marriage ever transfer ownership after getting married (or divorced).

yes and no depending on what state you are in, but I do not think, but do not know for sure in Nv. However, I think what is sole and seperate property stays sole and seperate property out there. Of course you can look this up by reviewing your local state laws.

I did some research, it seems in both common law AND community property states, an individuals property before marriage remains their sole property throughout and after the marriage.

Why are you asking us all these questions then?
To get answers? I used the terms in the first answer to help search for more information, which I then stated here in case it needed any clarification.

I used nothing from your replies, for anything, so why are you responding to my questions.

We don't do homework here, and actually the answer you think you have is incorrect as stated.
Research, come back and inform us of the exceptions state by state.

I know the answer, you don't, now you go and get busy and research your questions and don't come back until you can share your answers. Better yet, you figure that out as well

Thats why people come here, you didnt learn that in your 6000+ posts? Maybe because those posts are equally useless as the above reply?

Anyone who knows the answers and wants to reply here for those who dont, please do.
