What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? AZ
What is the statute of limitations for kidnapping and aggravated assault with intent to do bodily harm, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon? I am the victim, but I was told that the laws have changed recently and that there no longer is a statute of limitations on violent crimes. Is this correct? Are there two different types of kidnapping? I was told it was not a "federal" crime because he did not take me across state lines. Is this a fact? Are their two types of kidnapping...or more?

I didn't wait....and I thought the original statute was 7 years and heard that a new law was passed ending any statute of limitations on violent crimes like rape, aggravvated assault, etc. No?

When did you contact the police? What have they done? Have you spoken to the prosecutor/DA about the case?

7 years after the fact would make ANY investigation and prosecution nearly impossible. How soon after the event did you first report it to police?

I escaped and the police were called from my neighbors house. The police Chief was in charge of the investigation but went into the hospital for ten days and would not allow anyone else to conduct the investigation. Hence, the warrants were not issued for 17 days and the perp was long gone by then. Can you just answer the question about the statute of limitations please? thanks...

I don't the SOL off hand.

But I am curious what has been done in the previous 6 years? You or the police just sat on it?

And if a warrant was issued for the arrest of the suspect then the SOL is moot as court action has been taken and the suspect can be prosecuted regardless of time.

Thank you. As to your previous questions...I was severely traumatized and disabled for a year and a half. The police chief aided the man's escape(he was a snitch) but I cannot prove that...I could no longer work and lost my job my home and everything I valued. The main thing was getting me back into society and functioning. I was fighting a losing battle as the police were not my friends. Thanks again, you explained it for me.
