What is the name of your state? New Hampshire

My ex-husband and I have joint legal custody of our 8 year old son. I have sole physical custody. Recently, he took my son to a psychiatrist without my knowledge and then told my son not to tell me about it (and you can imagine what that did to my son, he couldnt' get to sleep at night for a week and finally told me about it).
Is it legal for him to do this?

I have other issues I will ask for advice for when I get the chance.

No it is not legal. He is contempt of the court order re; joint legal custody- which requires mutual consent.

Have you contacted the psychiatrist? They are aware of the need for consent from both parents when there is joint legal custody.

That said- Why is your son in counseling? I recommend you call the psychiatrist and become involved in the counseling.

Thank you so much for such a quick reply!
I have been in touch with the councelor they (my ex and his fiance') took him to and he was quite appalled that I didn't know about it and that they told him to not tell me. The councelor said that the only problem that he can see with my son is a parenting issue on THEIR part.
Since I've gotten involved, they have not taken him to that councelor again, but have attempted to put him on a waiting list at Dartmouth Hitchock Hospital. (The fiance' works there.) I received a letter in the mail in regards to it and immediately took him off the waiting list. The fiance' is the person calling the shots here. She is attempting (and failing) to get my son diagnosed with ADHD (which he definitely does not have).
He does NOT need counceling but probably will by the time my ex and his faince' get done with him.
