What is the name of your state? Missouri

My 15 year old son was in a car accident and taken by Life Flight to the hospital. He never regained consciousness and was pronounced DOA. The Life Flight company is out of network, but we never had an opportunity to even question if they were in-network or not (and wouldn't have anyway, as this could have been his only chance of survival). I have searched through my benefits book looking for a clause about life or death emergencies, as I thought I had seen one before, but am unable to find it. The insurance company only says I can appeal the decision to pay just out of network cost. Any help on this??? Thanks

I'm sorry for your loss.

Most policies have some language about emergencies and out of network providers.

Was there a parent or guardian availbale?
Was there auto insurance, if so, have you made a claim, that may be why they did not pay?

Who caused the accident?

I was the only parent available, and although I was conscious (sp?) I was trapped under my vehicle and being worked on by medical personnel. They would not tell me anything about my son until after we reached the hospital. A regualr ambulance took him up the road to the helicopter landing, so I wasn't even aware that he was taken by Life Flight.

This was only a one car accident, ours, the roads were wet, and while going around a curve, I went off the right side, and over-compensated to get back on the road, as there are no shoulders. When I over compensated, I lost control and rolled the vehicle multiple times. I had full coverage on the vehicle, but only $2000.00 medical insurance, and since Aaron was a member of my family, living with me, he was exempt from any kind of personal liability payment.

Who caused the accident?

I did, although there were no tickets or summons given.

Read the policy again and make your appeal, be sure to point out there is no medical coverage for your son, in case they were expecting auto insurance to pay. Was there any life insurance?
