I recently got my first DUI I blew a .15. I have no prior record except a juvinile open bottle and under 21 ten years ago. I had to pay 140 to get my car. I have to pay 680. reinstatement fee. I was wondering what To expect in court.

I got one in PA....here's what happened...

First DUI (and last)....Cost $75 to get my car back that they towed. PA has a program called ARD and if you complete the program they will take it off your record. I was approved for the program. First, had to have a drug and alcohol evaluation, cost of $50. Was recommended for a follow up evaluation because I was considered at risk, another $50. Had to attend 6 weeks once a week of alcohol safety classes, cost, $150. Fines, court costs, etc...$1300. Community service, 30 hours, had 6 months to complete. Six months of probation. My probation officer could show up at any time at my house and check to make sure there was no alcohol in my home and could drug test me at any time. Lisence suspended, 30 days. Mandatory attendance at a victim impact panel where a father told the story of how his son was killed while drinking and driving and how he had to go to the morgue and identify the body.

Now, I was .11 on a blood test. The nice police officers drove me to the nearest emergency room, cuffed, marched me through the emergency room in cuffs and took blood. The people in my alcohol class who had higher BAC had more fines, more community service (some had up to 70 hours), some did jail time (72 hours), some did more than six weeks of alcohol classes, some did not "pass" the second evaluation and were recommended to have more intensive treatment.

Pennsylvania basically wants to make it such a pain in the ass and so humiliating that you never, ever want to get another DUI, and believe me I don't. I'm so glad it is over with. It was really an eye opener. I look back on it and am just very grateful that I did not hurt anyone. Good luck to you.

Mnmom expect to get it pretty hard with such a high bac. Hire a good lawyer. But you will lose your license and a pay hefty fine for sure. Not to mention more legal fees. Have FUN!!! You were a danger to society that night, I am glad you were arrested.

This is a Class B misdemeanor. Since this is your first offense, if you are convicted the penalty includes a fine up to $2,000.00 and/or the possibility of serving jail time from 3 days to 180 days. You can also expect a driver's license suspension of 90 to 365 days.

Also the obvious insurance increase...
