my boyfriend and i are getting married within the next few monthes and he would like to adopt my 7 year old daughter from a previous relationship. We know that the biological father will not contest this but do we have to contact an attorney in the county in which she was born and have the proceedings go through that county or can we do it in the county in which we already reside? The biological father lives in the county in which she was born. He is not listed on the birth certificate and he has never seen her. He only pays a minimum of the court ordered support so this would be a great relief of of him as he has stated to the child support agency many times he wants nothing to do with her. We live in Ohio. Thanks for any imput it will be much appreciated. mom to 5 kids:)

I hope you are stopping at 5..

Anyway, you can get your attorney and file in the county that the child resides.
