What is the name of your state? Florida

My son recently started receiving SSI payments. Currently he lives on his own in a condo I own. I am considering adding his name to the title so that the taxes would be lower (homestead exemption) and to hopefully qualify him for a larger SSI payment.

Because the condo is in my name only and he can't financially pay rent, utilities and food - his SSI is being reduced for receving in kind support - for those things that I provide to him for free.

If the condo is in his name only I know he only has to show that he is paying the cost of the household expenses in order to no longer receive a reduction in his SSI. I'm wondering if his name is jointly on the title if this would still be the same - or will they say instead that he's living in the home of someone else? Thanks for any insight.

SSI is based on income into the household and assets . Look it up on the SSA site or call them .

Haven't been able to find anything on the SSA site that relates to the titling of property. It only mentions that an SSI recipient living in his own home.....but it doesn't say how that home has to be titled.

I'm wondering if it is titled in his name and someone else's if they will say that the second person is providing him with in kind support ---- even tho the second named person doesn't live in the house.
