0$ lease and eviction?

my lease payment amount is $0.00 dollars per month, because it was part of my compensation for employment at an apartment complex. is it legaly binding? i am still employed here and as a matter of fact just received a raise so they have no plans to fire me. but they want me to vacate my apartment by march 1st or start paying them 1650.00 a month. that wasnt the deal when i started here. can they legaly break my lease like that? i live in pennslyvannia.

VERY Interesting question..... if you were in New York City, that would be ILLEGAL...they would have to fire you or, raise your pay by least $1650 a month, or give you another suitable apartment within 500 FEET of your employment.

Read your "lease". Does it appear to be a genuine lease?
Remember that both parties have to receive adequate consideration to make it a genuine contracte.

I would guess that the issue here would be if the lease is a binding contract.

Its a mess dj. i don't even have a copy of the lease because they sent a supervisor down to remove everyones files and records from the property. if it was just me i wouldnt care, but i have 4 people depending on me, 3 are children.

It is the standard lease everyone else uses. the company has 219 apartments in this complex and its identical to them.

And why didnt you keep a copy ??

What county are you in , it seems like PA law is based on counties...did a quick search..found nothing...

It would be ILLEGAL for them to take all the lease UNLESS they took them to a safe FIREPROOF storage facility.

Hmmm potential CRIMINAL activity by the landlord..

the county i live in is bucks county. the only reason that i didn't keep a copy was because i was never given one. i was just told to sign it for my records. 4 other people did this at the same time i did, and to be honest, i didnt really think much about it at the time because until recently the company treated me great and i had no reason to doubt them.

the only leases missing are the employee leases. as a matter of fact, every single piece of paper concerning employees is missing. its like we never existed here.
