Recently, I received a call from a contractor, wanting to do business with my mother's company. I had no idea why he would be calling my cell phone, until he mentioned that he knew someone from my bank. Then, he just happened to tell me that this person FROM MY BANK gave him my telephone number, thinking it was my mother's. Only thing I can figure, he found the account that my mother and I have shared since I was a teenager, and assumed the information on it was her information. I have no idea who either person is, but I did get the phone number of the person who called me, and found his name and address on the Internet, so what do I do now?? I have considered calling the bank to find out who this person is, but I am afraid they may try to hide the informatioin from me. Or, pull out all of my money and find a new bank??

You need to immediately call your bank and ask to speak to the Security Officer or Internal Auditor and relay this story.

I doubt that your funds are at risk. They should be willing to put an "alert" on your account.

Personally, I would see what kind of response I get from the bank before deciding whether or not to close the account.
