Maryland-A 12-yr-old 7th grader was pushing my son at the bus stop. My 11-yr-old 6th grader gave him 2 warnings to stop and then he punched him in the eye. The 12-yr-old asked an 8th grader to beat up my son and he refused and my son got on the bus and went to school. The police came to school and questioned my son. I was called after-the-fact and told I needed to come get my son. The principal asked me to take my son hom while he sort things out. He never called me. I took my son back to school on Mon and the principal said both boys deserve an education and he should go to class. I questioned why the police questioned my son at the school. Security told me go to the police station. I went to the Bowie police station and there was no record of any questioning. Both boys continued to ride the bus. About 2 weeks later the boys mother threatened my son at the bus stop and I called the police. The police came out and told me the matter needed to be handled by the school because it happened at the bus stop. I went to the school and called the police to get the info on the boys mother. I called her and she refused to meet me that day and agree to meet Fri. She did not show up. She called later and said he got held up and she could meet now. I felt a setup and refused. I filled out the bullying form and sent a letter to the Board of Ed. Their reply stated my son should have never been questioned at the school and they would talk to the principal and he should follow up with me. The school security called and said they would keep an eye on things at the school. I received a ltr from the Dept of Juv Svc and I called and was told that my son needs to come or the case would go to trial and he needs to pay $35 restitution for the boys eye. I've sent an e-mail to the police dept to question how this incident was handled and they are still investigating. Will my son have a record if he pays restitution? My son is an honor roll student and never been in trouble.
