What is the name of your state? pennsylvania

my dtr's friend asked her to hide her baggie quick....she stuck it in her backpack not knowing what it was at first...unfortunatelt she brought it out later to have a look. others saw and reported her. she is on 10 days suspension fm school and is being reported to the magistrate. she is scheduled for drug testing in a couple days. i beleive her that it will be negative. that doesnt change the fact that she had possession...so, do i need a lawyer? the friend admitted at school that it was hers, not my dtrs. do they give teens a warning or fine/imprison a first offence?
thanks for any advice

To be on the safe side I would get a lawyer.
If the drug test is negative, it will prove she wasn't using the stuff. And since the friend admited that it was her's, that a big help too. But if really depends on the school's rules on how they deal with drugs. All school as different. With my school if a student was cought using or had drugs they had random drug testings for a period of time, but if they were cought with druga again. The school was done with them and they would have to go else where for education.
My adivice right now would be to get through this, and talk to your daughter about her friends. You wouldn't want her to fall into the wrong crowd.. I just hope her friends parents, get help for their kid to stop using drugs.

i am more worried about the fine and punishment from the magistrate.. they might think she was selling or pushing drugs. there was hardly any pot in the bag if quantity matters. the principal said my dtr was the one that told the truth, but has to punish by the rules. now its in the hands of law enforcement. i dont have much money for a lawyer, and wouldnt qualify for a free one, since i work.

Yeah, rules are rules, as hard and curl as it can seems, schools have policys they have to follow. Hopefully the judge will see it and just give your daughter a warning/ and or community service. But what may help a lot though it the friend admiting to the judge that it was theirs and not your daughters.
