Virginia. I am working as a hourly contractor for a large corporation and I usually take a 30 minute break for lunch at my desk. I requested to leave 10 minutes early and stated that I would use some of my 30-minute break to compensate for the missed time. I was told that I do not receive two 15 minute breaks by law and that I would not be able to have a 30 minute break in the future without docking myself this time on my record. Is it a rumor that VA law states you are to receive two 15 minute breaks? Do I not receive them only because I am a contractor?
