What is the name of your state? -- Colorado

My son's friend was just kicked out of her home by her mother and step-father this last weekend. I gave her a place to stay. Her parents told her during work one night that she needed not come home and to get her stuff the next day. Anything not taken would be thrown away. I was present when she packed her things outside the front (out of respect that they wanted no one in their home). There's reasons I don't feel were justifiable, but from what she tells me there's nothing else. She did say her step-dad is abusive and I witnessed several verbal while I was there.

My question, is who do I -or- her talk to protect us from any allegations. I did call the school this morning and informed the girl's counselor and she was going to speak with her. The step-father threatened her with run-away charges and called her several names. I want to protect this girl the right way, but also myself and my family. ~Thanx
