What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Polk County, Georgia.

Hello everyone,

I just went to court today for a DUI charge that I was arrested for in Polk County, Georgia in early September.

I pled guilty to DUI, and while the repercussions aren't necessarily important to this question I have, my main question is concerning my license suspension.

I have no prior DWI/DUI convictions, but I do have a prior reckless driving conviction from April, 2009 stemming from a DWI arrest in November, 2008 in New Hampshire.

What am I looking at for a license suspension?

Thanks!

New Hampshire will definitely hear of the conviction from out of state and assess points. If these are the only two offenses, you'll skate by without additional suspension, but if your driving privs are suspended in GA (it's a year right), NH will reciprocate.

Thank you for the information, Ron.

I was confused because I'm aware that in Georgia, if you're convicted of a first offense DUI, you're license will be suspended. If you complete a DUI class, however, your license will be fully-reinstated after 120 days. Because I have a New Hampshire license, I wasn't sure if New Hampshire will reciprocate to that same policy.

I was really hoping to enroll into grad school for the Fall of 2011. I've already found myself a place to live, found a job and enrolled into the necessary DUI course(s) to ensure that I can (hopefully) get my license back in a year.

EDIT: Also, I'm not sure if this makes any difference, but the the judge never suspended my license when I pled guilty to my DUI charge. Because my conviction came from GA, but I had a NH license, the judge ruled that she'd let NH suspend my license.
