2 States Takiing Child Support At Same Time

Hi All! Thanks for all the help you've been giving here, hopefully you can give me some insights.

I owe Child Support, I'm aware of that and trying best to get caught up. Child and CP are in Connecticut and have never lived in NY. I lived in NY for a short while but never had any income there. Moved to NV over a year ago. CP is aware. Not sure how this happened but now both state of NV and NY are taking payments from my check. My current state of residence started first and shortly after NY started. How can this be? What should I do? Please help

I'm also wondering why cp may have filed in NY knowing I no longer lived there. What would be the point of doing that? and is that not illegal? Was not even informed a filing was made there, only found out after employer started taking out the payments

It may not be the cp's fault....sometimes, when more than one state has been involved, things get messed up.

True. But how did NY get involved in the first place, I only lived there for a short time? As you can probably guess cp and I do not communicate. Unless it took NY that long to get it together and by that time I had already moved.
