What is the name of your state? NY I was a car dealer that has since gone out of business. When I went out some customers had problems with their cars. The DMV investigators advised them to sue my bond. I didnt go to the hearings, because I didnt think I had to. Plus very depressed about closing & trying to adjust & concentrate on my new job. Anyways hearings went agaist me & I was directed to pay the people for estimates of repairs, not actual repairs even though the people never repaired the cars & turned into finance company & 2 ran them into the ground. Anyways my question is there are 6 judgments against me now & my bond. I started a new bond feb 2006 - 3 of the 6 sales took place after the new bond started. The new bond was in effect when all the hearings & judgments were entered. DMV is going after my old bond Which bond is liable? The bond in place at the time of sale Or the bond in effect when the hearings & judgments took place? I would prefer the latter, since I had a co-signor on the first bond & not on the second bond. I would just as soon leave the co-sigor out of this since Im not going to have the money to pay back the bond company & will have to make payment arraigments with them (On top of all the other debts Im paying off from my car empire!) I need some king of precident to shift liability to the second bond company
