What is the name of your state? Maryland.
I recently discovered that my siblings and I are the heirs to my uncles estate. We were asked by relatives to sign over our rights, so that my uncles body could be shipped to Connecticut for burial. I don't see why we should have to sign over our rights to have him buried in another State. He lived in Virginia and I live in Maryland. My siblings live in Connecticut. If we sign over our rights, what position does that leave us in? We were told that we have 24 hrs to sign. Any suggestions?

Are these relatives asking you to sign included in the estate and what rights were they asking you to give up (where to bury him, enough money to bury him, or all of your rights to the estate)?

What are they threatening to do if you do NOT sign today (especially being a holiday when you cannot consult an attorney)? Sounds like they may be trying to rush you for a reason. Get a copy and make sure that you fully understand everything before deciding if you want to sign it.

I'm not a lawyer, but it sounds like you could be getting scammed by your relatives. I wouldn't sign anything until it has been reviewed by your attorney. 24 hours to sign ?? What happens if you don't? This transaction doesn't sound Kosher.

What is the exact title of the document you are being asked to sign and what is the language (word for word) of the document?
