What is the name of your state? Washington D.C.

In 1982 my Dad received a parking ticket in the parking lot of the Washington Monument (They removed the chain from the entrance at 6:45AM but parking was not allowed until 7:mad:).

We drove back to California without paying the ticket.

My Dad is getting ready to take a trip to DC soon. If he gets pulled over is there any chance this ticket is still on the books? Is there a SOL on parking tickets?

Do you think there is any chance it has been entered into a computer that would pop up if he got pulled over? I don't have any clue how automated they were back in 1982 or how up to date they are on entering old violations.

Usually Parking violations and moving violations are in two different departments. Chances are the parking ticket won't pop up. If it does, they cannot arrest your dad.

I've heard too many stories (most of them on this board!) about people who were surprised 10+ years later with a demand from collections to pay the parking fine.

I can't tell you the chances that he will have of being caught. However, if he manages to get another parking ticket, the history will nearly surely catch up with him.
