What is the name of your state? NV
My boyfriend and his "wife" split several months before I met him. He recently found out in january that she never divorced her first husband to whom she was married to long before she met him. She married her first husband in AZ, then a 2nd husband here in NV whom divorced her, then married him here in NV years later. I did some research. According to NV law, the 2nd and 3rd marriages are voidable because she didn't get a divorce to the first guy. I found that a divorce is not necessary to dissolve the marriage. My question is, how does it get corrected in the county record? The county record shows that he's married even though he is not really. How does he fix that? Please advise what papers need to be filed or what has to be done.

Thanks!

How do you know that she never divorced husband #1? Your BF is probably better off getting a divorce.

I am addressing one thing. You do not have a boyfriend if he is married. He needs to divorce all the ones he is married to and hopefully wind up in jail. That should give you some time to think about your *Non Boyfriend*.

If OP is correct, her boyfriend isn't married. His marriage isn't valid because his "wife" was already married. It is she (OP's boyfriend's ex) who has the multiple marriages, not OP's boyfriend.

NRS 125.290 Void marriages. All marriages which are prohibited by law because of:

1. Consanguinity between the parties; or

2. Either of the parties having a former husband or wife then living, if solemnized within this State,

Ê are void without any decree of divorce or annulment or other legal proceedings. A marriage void under this section shall not bar prosecution for the crime of bigamy pursuant to NRS 201.160.

Correct. It is HIS EX that was married to 2 people at the same time. Her first husband had a detective on the case trying to find her to get a divorce. He is divorcing her by notification. The detective contacted my boyfriends mother and this is how he found out that she was never divorced. I found the divorce case online. I just don't know what's next.

Records of marriage are filed with the State Registrar. The Administrator of the Health Division of the Department of Health and Human Services is the State Registrar of Vital Statistics. They should be able to tell you what you need to do.

I found some contact information:

His marriage is voidable...but not void. He still needs to file for divorce to void the marriage.
