I've heard that there is a law associated with divorce which holds that the woman's last name (if it was her husband's during marrige) can not be changed for three months. I'm talking, in particular, to her license, credit cards, and similar items. Is this actually a law in that she can not change her name back to her maiden name for 3 months?? I'm not understanding why she should have to go through the pain and anguish of this law. It seems ridiculous to me that there would be a law on this issue. If the woman is getting the divorce, why should she be made to continue to suffer with her ex's last name????? It should be done and over with and there should be no 3 month or 3 minute period of waiting. Can someone enlighted me on this topic? Thanks.
