I gave 30 days notice to our landlord of 3 years on 1/18/00, to vacate on 2/18/00, but we are moving out 1/28/00. Are we legally responsible tp pay rent until the end of the 30 day term on 2/18/00, or until the end of February? Also, doesn't she have to replace carpet and paint the place after one year?

You are required to pay rent till the date you have notified. However in some states if a new tenant move in, then you are required to pay only till the date you move in.

The landlord ins not obliged to change carpets/paint etc. unless the condition makes the premises unhabitable
